Affiliate Disclosure
Plain-English explanation of how this site is funded.
Velvet Verdict is funded through affiliate links. When a page includes an affiliate link and you buy through it, we may receive a commission from the retailer. You don’t pay anything extra.
Where affiliate links appear
Affiliate links can appear in reviews, comparisons, guides and anywhere we mention where to buy a product. Every review, comparison and guide includes a disclosure in the article itself, above the first paid link, and every affiliate link is marked “(paid link)”. Links we cite as sources are ordinary editorial links and earn us nothing.
Which programs we work with
We don’t have any active affiliate partnerships yet. When we join a program, we’ll list it here.
Commissions don’t buy verdicts
- Brands and retailers can’t pay for a positive review, a higher rating or placement in a list.
- We include products we think are worth considering even when we earn nothing from them, and we note drawbacks for products we do earn from.
- Commission rates can differ between retailers. We don’t choose recommendations based on which pays more.
Free products and samples
If a brand or retailer gives us a product for free (for example, a review sample), the review will say so clearly in the disclosure at the top. Receiving a free product does not guarantee coverage or a positive verdict.
Research-based reviews
Unless a page clearly says it is a hands-on review, our reviews are research-based and we haven’t used the product ourselves. See how we evaluate.
