About Velvet Verdict & How We Evaluate Products
Velvet Verdict publishes plain-language reviews and comparisons of sexual-wellness products for adults. We aim to be useful, accurate and upfront about how every verdict is reached.
What we do
We help adults compare sexual-wellness products before they buy: what a product is made of, how it is powered and cleaned, and what the warranty covers. We write in plain, non-graphic language, and we never show explicit imagery.
How we evaluate
All of our reviews so far are research-based: we have not used the products ourselves. If we ever review a product hands-on, the page will say so clearly. Every review, comparison and guide states its method at the top, in the disclosure.
For a research-based article we look at:
- Manufacturer information: published specifications, materials, dimensions, battery and charging details, water resistance ratings, included accessories and warranty terms.
- Materials and safety information: body-safe material claims (for example, platinum-cure silicone or non-porous materials), lubricant compatibility and cleaning instructions, compared against independent, reputable sources where available.
- Policies that affect buyers: return and hygiene policies, warranty length and, for app-connected products, the app’s stated permissions and privacy policy.
- Fact-checking: claims are checked against their sources before publication. Anything we couldn’t verify is labeled as unverified or left out.
If we ever review a product hands-on, the page will say so, and if the product was provided free by a brand or retailer, we will say that clearly near the top.
Ratings
Research-based reviews don’t carry a rating. We only show an editorial rating (out of 5) on a review where we have used the product ourselves, and it’s our own judgment, never an average of customer ratings. We don’t publish star ratings, review counts or “reader reviews”.
What we don’t do
- We don’t claim to have tested products we haven’t used.
- We don’t accept payment for positive reviews or let brands edit our verdicts.
- We don’t publish explicit images or graphic descriptions.
- We don’t give medical advice. Our content is general information; please talk to a healthcare professional about health concerns.

Who we are
Velvet Verdict is an independent site run by one person in Michigan, with AI tools assisting research and drafting. Drafts are checked against cited sources before publication, and we don’t currently test products hands-on.
